In contemporary society, almost all domains of human knowledge have to apply Mathematical and computational methods. Mathematics is “sine qua non” in the area of science and technology. With this in view, the Institute of Mathematical Sciences was established in 1995.
VISION
To provide a centre of excellence in Mathematical Sciences for the Socio-economic development of Ghana.
MISSION
To provide infrastructure and promote research, training, education and international co-operation in mathematical sciences.
FUNCTIONS
To foster interaction with policy makers on matters relating to mathematics and its promotion and applications.
To establish strong links with Universities and other Institutions in Ghana
To undertake advanced research in mathematical science
To collaborate in the training of undergraduate and post graduate students in mathematical research (degree will be awarded by the University of their registration).
To provide continuing education in mathematics at the pre-tertiary and tertiary levels.
To invite scientists to participate in seminars, workshop, schools and conferences in specialized topics in Mathematics
To identify and encourage young talents in Mathematical Sciences.
