Street named after Prof. Allotey PDF Print E-mail

Papa Owusu Ankomah, a presidential aspirant for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has called on Ghanaians to come together as one people and take a positive step towards the total development of the nation.

He made this call when he attended the “Borbor Mfantse” festival of the chiefs and people of the Mfantseman District in the Central Region.

The district is comprised of five paramouncies which are Nkusukum, Mankessim, Abeadzi, Anomabo and Ekumfi. The festival which was the first of its kind, aimed at bringing all Fantis together, was celebrated under the theme: “Developing Mfantseman In Unity”. It replaced the Odambea festival of the Chiefs and people of Nkusukum traditional area.

Papa Ankomah used the occasion to talk on education and said that it was the only legacy which could not be taken away from any recipient or beneficiary.

He was sad that the region which was once the cradle of education had lost it to other regions, and subsequently advised the people to reorganize themselves and fight for their lost treasure.

The Omanhene of Nkusukum, Okesse Essandoh, called on the people to eschew all negative tendencies capable of derailing their achievements.

He noted that even though the task ahead seemed challenging, harmonious co-operation, unity of purpose and a deep understanding of issues would help in over-coming those challenges.

Some streets in Saltpond were named after some personalities whose tremendous contributions had brought about development in the area. The personalities include: Prof. Francis Allotey, Mr. Ato Essuman, Prof. Paul Ansah, Dr, Agyin Davis and Nana Baah IV.

Other dignitaries present were: Members of Parliament for Mfantseman East and West, Mr. Steven Asamoah Boateng and Mr. George Kuntu Blankson respectively. MP for Gomoa, Mr. Sam Quam and the District Chief Executive of Mfantseman, Mr. Robert Quanoo Arthur.
